Garment Construction is an introduction course focusing on fundamental sewing techniques. Students will produce 2-3 basic garments, and assemble a sample book of standard dressmaking techniques. Students will learn hand sewing skills, the use of the industrial sewing machine, methods for taking measurements, and how to select and layout fabric. Commercial patterns will be used as a tool for demonstrating clothing construction, fit alterations, design detail variations, and marking and terminology standards used in the industry.  Prior sewing experience is not required, but could be helpful.

This in person class meets on MassArt’s campus.
