Figure Drawing: Portraits and Facial Structure
This 7-week course introduces students to the fundamentals of portrait drawing with a focus on facial anatomy, structure, and the use of light to create convincing form. Students will study the anatomy of the skull and facial proportions, learning how to break down complex features into simple shapes. Through subtractive drawing techniques, they will use a toned surface to build highlights and shadows, enhancing their understanding of how light and value define form. Working from mirrors for self-portraits, as well as photo references, students will gain skills in accurate observation and the ability to capture lifelike detail and expression. Ideal for students seeking to deepen their drawing skills, this course provides a foundational understanding of realistic facial structure and form. All levels of experience are welcome.

This online class meets using the ZOOM platform.
