The Biological Arts and Science Engagement course explores the objective and subjective study of life and nature and examines historical and contemporary approaches to the fusion of biology and art and science-focused public engagement.  This course takes an integrative and comparative approach to examine various symbiotic relationships between Science, Technology, and Art/Design and focuses on four major intersections: Concept, Representation, Design/Application, and Media.  Through a combination of discussions, field trips, and collaborative public engagement projects, students critically explore and contextualize various current topics in Biological Arts, including artist-scientist collaborations, inclusive science engagement/science communication, biodiversity and the environment, technology and ethics, and the future of Art+Science integration.

This is an online class with optional field trips. The class will meet online using Zoom, from 10am – 1pm on the following dates: May 28-June 1(Tue-Sat) and Jun 3-6 (Mon-Thu). The dates for the field trips are to be determined.
