This class is an introduction to hybrid animation processes, with a focus on creative and experimental approaches to combining traditional, experimental, and digital animation techniques. Students are encouraged to explore new workflows in order to develop their own unique style and artistic voice. This intensive studio explores composing moving images using digital compositing in Adobe After Effects and Photoshop, allowing students to integrate various moving image formats: stop-motion animation, digital hand-drawn animation, live action, and found footage. We discuss conceptual and aesthetic motivations in addition to practical skills. The class incorporates screenings of animated shorts, lectures, demos, critique and 1:1 meetings with the instructor. Animation and Adobe software experience is helpful but not required
This class uses ZOOM.
