This course will focus on MIG (Metal Inert Gas) Welding, and processes to cut and manipulate metal that are available to the beginning metalworker. Easily acquired tools such as Angle Grinders, hand files, and bolt cutters will be at the center of our weekend long investigations. Friday will focus on basic shop safety and personal protection equipment, with an introduction to the tools. Saturday morning we will begin welding, using auto-darkening welding shields. Metal forming and cutting will fill out the afternoon. Sunday we will complete our small projects, with time reserved for discussion and reflection on the weekend’s workshop.
