In this critique-based Capstone Studio course, students will develop a cohesive body of work that reflects their personal artistic vision and creative progress throughout the program. Over 7 weeks, students will create a small portfolio of at least three finished pieces, exploring and refining their unique approach to content, form, and technique. Central to this course is an emphasis on professional development. Students will write an artist statement to accompany their work, which we will review in class to strengthen their articulation of themes and motivations. The course is designed to encourage open dialogue, foster critical feedback, and cultivate professional skills as students plan for their next steps post-certificate. Whether students solidify a particular direction in their practice or discover new directions entirely, the Capstone Studio supports and challenges them to share, expand, and refine their creative intentions in a supportive community of peers. Students are open to work in any medium(s) of their choice including painting, sculpture, mixed-media, video, photography, etc.
