Visual and Information Design for Digital Experience is a seven-week synchronous remote/online course focused on visual and graphic design for digital experiences and environments. Through presentations, workshops, critique and in-class exercises, students learn core design principles such as balance, contrast, visual hierarchy, alignment, repetition, proportion, negative space and Gestalt principles. Through exercises and assignments in Figma, students focus on the craft of visual design using the elements of typography, color, shape, layout, word and image relationships to communicate information, and emotion. Students will finish this course with a portfolio of several design exercises, including real world examples of digital designs such as advertisements, social media graphics, web and app page designs and more.
*No prerequisites. This class is a foundational requirement for the Experience Design track of the Digital Media Certificate program.
This online/remote class uses the ZOOM platform.
